These phantasmagorical plumed fowl, displaying tail feathers that mimic a weaver's comb, appear amidst a plethora of hooked symbolic references to the dragon mythology that permeated the Caucasian imagination and, in this fabulously preserved piece, is again rekindled. Like the "Eagle Kazak's" sunburst emblem from the Caucasian Karabagh tradition, this style elicits a rapturous response.
