A dozen glowing jewel medallions are arrayed in two conjoined columns on a gently shimmering sapphire blue ground. They contain ivory knotted rosettes supporting clusters of pinwheel florets. Their pixellated halo effect ripples outward where the surrounding niches between are adorned with tribal ornaments are placed such that they appear to be free floating around the contrastingly orderly medallion staves. This delightful rug absolutely glistens, the result of extremely lustrous wool and deeply saturated naturally dyed colors. Even the crisply drawn, joyous borders are filled with nuance and variation, completing this brilliantly integrated, elemental composition. Extremely fine knotting imbues this superb condition tribal piece with an extraordinary sense of refinement.
