Twitter Instagram Facebook Pinterest(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery") Baku, a town along the Caspian Sea that later became a major oil exporting city, in the 19th century boasted an extremely refined weaving tradition of small rugs. This extraordinary 160-year-old standout with a central keyhole-like medallion containing a repeating age-old symbol. Running horizontally below this are 3-˝ asymmetrically positioned snowflakes, which in the vertical and upper horizontal borders brilliantly transform into stepped diamonds. Three pinpoint detailed borders further demonstrating the weaver’s tremendous mastery of her craft accentuates her choice of the crab motif for the main border rarely seen used from this region. Her great artistic sensitivity continues in her use of glowing rose gold, watery blue, time-seasoned coral and soft peach that now have taken on a wondrous patina. Learn About This Rug Type
