(Connoisseur-Caliber)
A visionary connoisseur's piece hailing from the Aksu district of Bidjov, the jubilance of this rarely found Shirvan sub-type cannot be ignored. It dazzles the eye with its innovative pattern and sonorously exotic color treatment. Its extremely dexterous weaver brilliantly articulates her creativity through deeply personal, one-of-a-kind interpretations of classical ascending elemental winged devices alternating with serrated-edged palmettes. Deconstructed serpentine dragon forms also weave their way through the cobalt blue field. Other secondary designs like sprouting boteh seeds, diamond-shaped "kites", and pointillist florets abide within the visual extravaganza. The eye-catching Seichur "Ocean Wave" border motif was adapted from closely neighboring Kuba, its narrow width allowing the center to be more fully expressed. This rug's even, medium pile has the hint of a glistening patina.
