(High-Collectible) The weavers from Bidjov are known for infusing their rugs with original designs and boast an extensive following among collectors of fine Caucasian art rugs. Visually striking, jewel-bearing shield palmettes of almost Art Deco sensibility illumine the blue field on which magnificent borders enshrine them. They are separated by a device resembling regal antlers, constructed from several archaic symbols to intriguing effect. Surrounding each shield is an entourage of legendary birds and striped mythical chimera-like antlered beings or 'khilin,' a fantastic creature adopted from the Far East through the silk trade routes. Opulent fiery crenellations dance between rows of carnation vines in the primary border. Its wonderful condition and narrow width make this rug as versatile as it is exciting.
