(Connoisseur-Caliber)
With its extremely robust colors and ever-changing traditional motifs, this powerful nomad rug is one of the most spontaneous antique carpets we have encountered. Age-old polygonal motifs are drawn in a delightful free form manner. It excels in its extreme geometry and wonderful sense of movement and continual reinvention of its design. The naturally dyed carnelian red and sapphire blue colors of this 19th century tribal rug are particularly potent and alternating tones of rare saffron yellow, clear ivory, lavender and deep teal create a dynamic tension between its naively rendered design elements. The striking inner and outer borders seem to shift with each repetition of the fluid diamond pattern, and the scarab motif is reinvented every time it appears in the memorable main border.
