(High-Collectible)
("One of “60 Best-of-Their-Type Rugs Sold in 2022") This visionary Seichur Kuba reveals many aspects of an earlier aesthetic followed in this Caucasian region with its diversity of never-before-seen designs and the inclusion of a particularly sophisticated chromatic consonance. A finely textured sapphire field shimmers with descending chains of ethereal blossoms as delicate and entrancing in their chance appearance as stumbling upon a bioluminescent aquarium. An immersive, masterful palette of oxblood, spruce green, mahogany, and tangerine are joined by yellow ochre, and a very rare paled lilac, to name a few of the shades present. The border suite is entirely original. Its primary frame features precisely rendered bouquets that appear as miniature landscapes due to the weaver’s unfathomably impressive abrash color shifts and innate sense of chiaroscuro silhouetted against a background shade of gold dust-infused wool. The innermost minor band is a unique pattern of quatrefoils alternating with linked triangles that resemble alchemical symbols. A subsequent stripe holds ocarina-shaped buds and stencil daisies, ending with a crocus floral meander in the outer border. Overall this tribal outlier’s interpretation is completely original. Every design element is achieved with tremendous precision while simultaneously exhibiting the subtle asymmetries that happen from the virtuoso hands of a seasoned artist weaver.
