(High-Collectible) ("New Arrivals Gallery") Boldly iconographic geometry is a hallmark of this prized, rare sub-group of Kazak rugs, woven in the vicinity of the village of Karachov in the fabled South-Central Caucasian region. The riveting, exceptionally perspicuous pattern captures the orderly spaciousness exhibited in pieces wrought by the most accomplished weavers. A navy field is virtually never encountered in Karachov rugs, which characteristically use shades of red or green. Rendered in soft vermillion, two signature ‘anvil' mandalas containing dotted chessboard-like motifs are positioned above and below a central ivory rectangle, with an enigmatic seal-like logo at its center that we have not seen in other examples. Implied ‘pointillistic' niches positioned at top and bottom, corral jewel-centered double rams horns in shimmering golden squares. The ‘double C’ motifs in the aged ivory border are a further idiosyncratic element.
