Twitter Instagram Facebook Pinterest(High-Decorative) (“NEW ACQUISITION") This is a lovely example of the much-sought-after antique Karagashli Kuba style with its striking and clear design, unusual color palette and fine, velvety weave. A traditional motif of these rugs originating from a settlement on the Caspian Sea, are the rhomboid palmettes surrounded by diminutive ‘snowflake' flower medallions and further accented by L-shaped leaves integrated in the spaces between the medallions. The seldom seen scintillating, deep aqua blue ground color contrasts dramatically with the burgundy medallions. A luminous ruby red main border contains a rhythmic, stylized leaf-and-calyx motif with ever changing joyful color combinations, especially in the leaf veins and outlining color choices.
