Twitter Facebook Pinterest(High-Collectible) ("The California Collection") The seldom encountered Khila Baku subgroup was woven in the lowlands district of Baku on the Caspian Sea a generation before the turn of the 19th century. They are best known for patterns formed almost exclusively of boteh ("Seed of Life") motifs, an archetypal symbol for growth, both outwardly and inwardly. A trio of resplendent medallions displays cruciform devices, dancing flowers, and pairs of birds resting on a bed of colossal boteh. These are divided into formations by garlands of diamond chains. The careful viewer will be rewarded with discovering tiny animals tucked between each top-knotted pod, and there is so much more to observe! Extraordinarily resonant, naturally dyed colors ensure this exceptional rug would enliven almost any type of home decor. Fascinating, unexpected, gentle abrash color shifts appear throughout, producing low contrast fluctuations of color that invigorate this piece. A series of six differing border designs flirt with the avant-garde, contrasting in design while being harmonious in hue. Superb, heavier pile condition makes this corridor rug a real treasure.
