(Decorative) This ingenious piece fascinates one with its multi-hued, repeating "Wheel of Life," allover design. Atop a rich royal blue field, the subtle and irregular spacing between the motifs adds immeasurably to the charming sense of movement and freedom. Bold yet harmonious natural dyes create stunning, evocative contrasts. Note how the outer secondary borders seem to shine due to the use of lanolin-rich wool, framing the entire composition perfectly. Of particular note is the unusual calligraphy in the top corner of the rug's field; “LETIIN,” a Slavic surname, supposes that this piece was either woven as a gift or specially commissioned. The use of the Latin alphabet indicates that the weaver was of Armenian descent. (INQUIRE ABOUT THIS RUG AT CLAREMONT 2, 1-800-883-1815)
