(Connoisseur-Caliber)
A sparkling jewel of 19th century tribal weaving, this enchanting Caucasian rug from the realm of the Lesghi possesses a great modern sense of design and color enhanced by a charmingly light patina. An abstract sensibility informs the well-proportioned field pattern, as an impressive aggregation of meaningful archetypal motifs comes together with immense spirit. Its flashy trio of individualistic namesake stars makes for a striking central focus on a rare walnut ground, attended by latch hook jewels that are sometimes referred to in the literature as "scarabs." Glowing gold, intriguing palmette forms adorn the corners with their positions dictated by lovely pinwheel blossoms. Its palette is a feast for the eye, with each color masterfully brewed from plant-based dye sources. A pixellated dragon major border is augmented on either side by minor bands with a lyrical chainlink version of the same and a twirling ribbon-like motif.
