(Connoisseur-Caliber) (“NEW ARRIVAL") This is a singular Kazak tribal rug that excels through its riveting use of space and an incredibly harmonious range of glowing blues and supporting colors. Continually shifting azure to sapphire blue undulate behind from a triad of archetypal “Memling Gul” motifs that each enclose faceted star motifs in alternating, very deeply saturated colors. These commanding motifs are separated by four innovative rows of three framed rosettes. The leaf and calyx main border is astonishingly clear and elemental, expertly contrasted against the soft ivory ground. Commanding calligraphy shows an incomplete weaving date and illegible text, which nevertheless expresses a personal element to the composition by its likely illiterate weaver.
