Twitter Facebook Pinterest(High-Collectible) ("The California Collection") This regal tribal rug is among the most artistically fluid adaptations of the important Seichur "X-form" wreath pattern. The asymmetrical orientation of its field pattern, with an incomplete wreath truncated by the upper borders, creates the sense of a quietly ascending movement. Resting amidst the primary motifs lie an array of stylized bouquets, their hues heightened, incandescent in contrast to the deeper tonality of the indigo ground. Studying this piece closely has a meditative effect, as layer upon layer of patterns and colors are revealed. Some shapes are heavily outlined, and others have no outlining at all, making their hues appear to melt into each other. The outer border is adorned with an expertly etched interlocking design popularly known as the "Ocean Wave” or “Eagle’s Head” with a stunning vermilion band of stencil-like daisies separated by a golden pinstripe running alongside. Heavier pile condition makes this piece a clear winner as art for the wall or floor.
