4' 4" x 5' 1" (132 x 155cm) — Late 19th C.

(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery") Quite finely woven, this absolutely stunning 19th century Caucasian Shirvan leaves one almost breathless, offering a seamless combination of a richly saturated palette of color and dexterous use of striking tribal designs. Strong ivory structures alluding to Caucasian dragon imagery support a mesmerizing, layered tripartite medallion. Its golden edges frame a glowing madder red cruciform space where the centerpiece holds a powerful 'Wheel of Life' symbol. The main border displays a rare series of crosshatch motifs. This is an ingenious, original, articulate tribal piece happily offering very good condition in a charming size.
