(High-Decorative) ("New Arrivals Gallery") Harkening to tribal rugs from an earlier time, in this turn of the 20th-century piece, a spaciousness field allows the magically charged designs to breathe, highlighting the dynamic visual contrast of the energetic border suite. A series of emblematic octagrams contain an ancient motif of elemental tree forms sprouting from central diamonds. The compressed star at the top follows its gradually elongated companions downward, suggesting a compelled motion. Hooked 'Wheels of Life' adorn the four corners of each medallion and are echoed in the shimmering indigo field. Mythical zoomorphic guardians are present with crescent moon-tailed chimeric sentinels, four-legged diamond-crowned creatures, joined by a crimson-striped avian overseer. Its prominent antennae are perhaps tuned to the celestial sphere. Happily, this totemic weaving comes to us in superb condition some six score years since its conception.
