(High-Collectible-Plus) (One of 70 "Best-of-Their-Type Rugs" Sold in 2025) Featuring bold geometric patterns rendered in vivid natural dyes, the best Caucasian Kazak rugs, such as this grand piece, are always exciting to encounter. Fachralos are a distinct sub-style beloved by collectors for their unique pattern language compared to other types in the region. Its complex shield medallions are carefully crafted from myriad shapes, with a truncated version at the top of the vivid guava-hued field suggesting a conveyor belt-like movement beyond the narrow border suite. An entrancing array of roundels, diamonds, hieroglyphic birds, and mysterious four-legged beings populate the hinterland around the primary features. Its color palette is rare and unusual in that it does not include the rich green tonalities often associated with later Fachralo rugs, further evidencing its venerable age along with its unfettered asymmetrical spontaneity. The particular shades of platinum blue are exceedingly rarely found. The majestic ground features skillfully accomplished abrash (intentional color striations) which creates an ultra-fine rippled effect across the entire field.
