This dynamic representative of the seldom encountered Cloudband Kazak sub-style offers vibrant natural colors and potent, evocative artistry, as well as being in remarkable heavy-pile condition. It demonstrates the elemental, whimsical artistry and spacious, balanced design that are most prized in 19th century examples. Along the field’s vertical axis, two striking medallions present this style's cloudband devices that radiate from central squared rosettes. These enigmatic forms in Asian mythology represent the “bands of clouds” created by the vapors that enclose the dragon as it flies overhead, emanating an age-old, deeply symbolic ambiance of beneficence. The axis of each medallion contains a sauwastika, a symbol of divinity and spirituality in Zoroastrianism and many other Eastern religions. See the wide array of seemingly sporadic secondary motifs, including kites, Wheels of Life and stylized birds.
