A superb representative of arguably the most renowned of antique Caucasian rug styles is the "Eagle Kazak." Wonderfully preserved at over 150 years old, this dazzling example boasts the prized "Double Eagle" format, in which a pair of large medallions, each with 12 bright ivory feather-shaped extensions, command the crimson field. This powerfully evocative tribal rug style is a must for those engaged in building an antique Caucasian rug collection and this piece “checks all the boxes” for what is most highly regarded. The use of rich green and gold dyes, well-formed, but individually drawn medallions, sprinkles of assorted motifs including human and animal forms, and the traditional crab border are all on display, for either display on the wall or floor.
