Twitter Instagram Facebook Pinterest(Connoisseur-Caliber) (“New Acquisition Sampling") Demonstrating a subtly nuanced natural palette of warm earth tones and a constantly varying design, this superb 19th century Caucasian Daghestan reveals a mature artfulness. In the field, an allover assortment of highly geometricized rosettes, which are an imaginative variation of the often-used ‘sprig and flower’ pattern. It is here that the weaver truly shows a masterful use of spontaneity and freedom. Not only is the traditional flower design given a completely original expression, but also she breaks away from the usual field of repeating flowers and includes other surprising designs in alternate rows. These include a cruciform design based on the ‘Ram’s horn’ motif plus seldom seen ‘Knots of Eternity’ as well as tiny diamonds scattered throughout the design adding further charm. It is extremely rare that tribal rugs are dated so it is particularly exciting to see the calligraphic notation. Learn About This Rug Type
