(High-Collectible)
From an intensely prized Caucasian sub-style, this immensely inventive, finely woven Ivory Marasali Shirvan prayer rug offers an incredibly modern graphic aesthetic for a piece well over a century old. This magnificent tribal artwork exudes a confidant joie de vivre with an expertly ordered legion of pirouetting boteh seeds that dance across the field in a celebratory rainbow display of jewel-toned color. Each stands as a tribute to the miraculous fecundity observed in the natural world. The perimeter of each is peppered by tiny flashbulb-like nodes in different color combinations, giving the boteh an exciting pulsating quality. Each is adorned with numerous iterations of abstract flowering sprigs or elemental, chevron-limbed “Trees of Life.” A rapturous palette of hues, including resonant azure, luminous ember red, jade, and yellow ochre. Their nuanced chromatic gradients substantially increase the allure of this collectible Caucasian gem. Lifetime devotees of color richly dyed this rug’s exquisite quality mountain wool while at the top of their game. The relatively fine knotting and handle show that this highly talented artist was also an extremely dexterous weaver. The elation and sense of wonder inspired by this piece ensured it remains in outstanding condition overall.
