(High-Collectible-Plus) (One of 70 "Best-of-Their-Type Rugs" Sold in 2025) This exceptionally early piece has an expertly choreographed design bringing together a sophisticated assemblage of Perpedil's symbolic tribal motifs. A single weaver has adeptly integrated this fascinating iconography that art rug collectors so avidly prize, by creating a much more spacious presentation where her exceptionally precise drawing could offer viewers an ultimately satisfying experience. The curling 'Ram’s Horns’ element depicted in the vertical edges of the field and in figural structures along the centerline is the primary form found in this style, symbolizing masculinity as well as the strength and communal spirit of this semi-nomadic group. A trove of tertiary ornamentation occupies the interstitial spaces with amulets, pinwheel florets, wild fowl, hourglass emblems, and other wonderful esoteric forms. Although usually found with a deep indigo or “red” field, ivory grounds are also seen very occasionally, and the vast majority of Perpedils do not have such a vivacious diversity of colors. The lighter-toned ground provides superb contrast to the chromatic chorus of leaf green, carnelian red, sapphire blue, and goldenrod.
