(High-Decorative) This deeply authentic 140-year old Caucasian Karabagh rug captivates the viewer with an unusually graphic variation on the latticework and flowerhead pattern. In a quite innovative field design, overscale flowers are interpreted as highly geometricized cruciform medallions, which dramatically contrast with the dark chocolate brown ground color. All ‘left over’ spaces are imaginatively filled with asymmetrically placed flowerheads while tones of pale yellow and lapis blue add to the atypical earth-toned palette. A daisy chain ‘Star of Wisdom’ main border and its flanking minor borders add a rhythmic frame to its mesmerizing field of flowers.
