("New Arrivals Gallery") This enrapturing, very early prayer rug offers a rare visceral immediacy through a historical art piece that has been remarkably maintained in admirable condition. Created in the high-mountain village of Fachralo in the middle of the 19th century, it offers an astonishingly asymmetrical rendering of the three latch hook medallions, coupled with a gleeful sprinkling of age-old motifs that reflect the continuous inspiration of the artist such as stars, kites, Wheels of Life and S's (Zoroastrian sun symbols). This highly inventive piece offers lanolin-rich wool, a deep patina of age, and rugged, powerful borders that further distinguish masterfully crafted hues, notably the leaf green and turquoise. Extremely well-preserved, It offers medium pile with minor scattered repiling, which is virtually imperceptible.
