(Museum-Quality)
("Best-of-its-Type Sold in 2020”)
In this profoundly moving Museum-Quality carpet, from the first glance, the indigo medallions with their Far Eastern celestial blue interiors holding lotus blossom centers, set the tone. From them, the dazzling complexity in the other compartments evokes an impression of an unbelievably star-studded night sky. Its level of detail is literally mind-blowing, woven in a much earlier milieu with a completely different sense of time-investment in a project, effectively reflecting the enormous dedication of some weavers to express their experience of life. This incomprehensibly finely woven 220-year-old Laver Kirman is an inimitable example of the gentle, serenely diaphanous fluidity that could only be captured in the dexterous hands of master weavers. It represents the pinnacle of rug weaving, never to be regained.
