The splendor expressed in this piece is remarkably animated, an explosion of beauty emanating from the center, with a ring of fleur-de-lis evoking the sense of a fireworks mandala. Embraced by spandrels filled with an aged sapphire tone, the grand oval reserve is rendered with an exotic subdued palette of time-softened hues radiating to the edges that include courtly burgundy, opal, gold, lavender, celadon, and Persian blue.
