However, this remarkable antique Oriental carpet, likely woven as a meal blanket, is substantially larger. Its rich midnight indigo ground displays rows of detailed boteh, the precursor to the Indian paisley. Each one holds a minute flower, symbolizing the potential for life to sprout forth, even in the arid terrain where the tribespeople lived.
