(High-Collectible) This mesmerizing, folkloric art carpet features a reserve grounded in richly striated shades of azure and sky blue, providing a luminous base for an abundantly creative allover pattern. Large cinnabar palmettes alternate with radial flowerheads paired on either side of the centerline in a loose lattice matrix of dazzling vinery. Copious, smaller-scale floral clusters unfurl across the field in a sundry display of types. Gentle asymmetry engenders a palpable sense of floating movement. Partially completed motifs suggest that the composition extends infinitely in all directions, true to the symbolic belief of the creators of this piece, as if looking through a portal into a vast underwater gardenscape. Each form is further sculpted through time-mellowed, organically derived hues used to create tremendous dimensionality through the effect of abrash or purposeful color shifts that occur throughout. Overall, this stunning village work is still in very fine, heavier pile condition.
