(High-Collectible) This 175 to 190-year old, entirely original High-Collectible Bijar oversize Persian carpet offers a tour-de-force performance in every respect. Framing a diminutive, whimsically drawn diamond medallion, virtuoso split palmettes, connected by spontaneous ribbon-like vinery, combine with a naturally dyed palette that includes numerous exotic colors. Its rare artistry continues in the closely integrated field pattern, where rows of majestic cruciform medallions parade in luminous, constantly shifting hues. Based on rarely seen saffron, its wide main border boasts an extended series of individually drawn split palmette motifs. At nearly two centuries of age, it remains in very sturdy condition.
