(“NEW ACQUISITION") This is a striking, quite whimsical antique Persian village rug that has a design that is extremely singular and imaginative. The three medallions, the stepped reserve border and all the flowers and leaves are drawn with a fascinating elemental style which verges on the abstract. It is graced with glowing, heightened, naturally dyed hues known among connoisseurs as ‘old color’. Rich pastel tones abound in this spirited piece with vibrant hues of denim blue and coral with azure and burnished gold highlights. The skillful application of abrash, or intentional color changes, throughout the rug exudes a sense of depth and elevates this charming and joyful work of art above the ordinary. It’s condition is excellent. (INQUIRE ABOUT THIS RUG AT CLAREMONT 2, 1-800-883-1815)
