(High-Decorative) An antique tribal rug large enough to anchor a seating area is rare, as most rustic Persian weavings were created on smaller looms. This quite well preserved Khamseh tribal rug presents three interlocking chains of hexagonal medallions filling an incredibly active reserve. In a design aptly known as “murgi” (bird), abstracted chicken motifs in different shapes, colors, expressions and postures evoke a charming pastoral scene full of life. Instead of the chemically dyed crimson reds and bright blues in the id to late century Oriental rugs that are much more prevalent from the mid to late 20th century market, here a welcome range of seasoned, naturally dyed rich russet and sapphire blue support a warm, engaging palette of colors, including numerous lively secondary tones.
