(High-Decorative)
("New Arrivals Gallery") This glorious Mahajiran Sarouk is a very early example of the genre before the patterns slowly became more commercially uniform by the 1920s. Each lyrical and spacious floral spray imparts a majestic symmetry, freely drifting in the midnight sapphire field while blazing like exotic candelabra. The background expanse is rippled with subtle abrash striations, appearing as a deep lustral pool with an inner luminescence. Slight variance in size, shape, and position yields a beguiling asymmetry that operates on a subliminal level, creating a sense of movement and enhanced visual interest. Its magnificent saturated hues reveal great artistic depth. Shimmering darkened copper, burnt sienna, electrum, and punctuations of rich jungle greens are among the surprising array of colors to be found through careful observation. With mostly heavy pile throughout at over a century of age, the surface of this irresistible room-size rug is extremely luxurious while shimmering with a glow only possible through the use of lanolin-rich lamb’s wool.
