This energetic Persian Malayer runner abounds with a graphic and colorful design, which is an imaginative, high appealing variation on the traditional Herat’ pattern. The ivory main border of ’Seeds of Life’ on a meandering vine brings a welcome dramatic contrast to the overall composition. Attesting to the tribal influence on village rugs such as this piece are eight-pointed Stars of Wisdom which are discretely placed in some of the remaining spaces in the main design. Finally, the constant artistic shift of different shades of blue throughout the indigo field adds to a strong sense of movement and depth. It is so practical as it is lovely, as at a century it offers a heavy pile and a very sturdy foundation. (INQUIRE ABOUT THIS RUG AT CLAREMONT 2, 1-800-883-1815)
