(Connoisseur-Caliber)
This boldly designed and joyfully hued oversize Malayer carpet is immensely inventive and has a tremendous presence. Its success results from an elevated mastery of innovation achieved through the power of dedicated persistence to recognizable artistic composition and a sublime palette of exclusive colors unlike those found in rugs woven after the Second Golden Age of Weaving in the 19th and early 20th centuries. An artfully lobed teardrop medallion rests in the center of the field as six pulsating pendants extend vertically to either end. The interior of the medallion and surrounding ground are adorned with an incredibly intricate rendition of the classic Herati pattern, an allover design of a diamond latticework adorned with rosettes. Glimpses of unique "Guli Farang" or foreign flower motifs on a striking butter-yellow base act as counterpoints to the interior. Rows of artfully adorned bisected diamonds run along the vertical edges to complete the field. The overall masterful attention to detail and fascinating levels of scale allow for continual discovery. A wide ivory border features spectacular structures that are both flowerhead and boteh seed on an elegantly swirling scarlet vine. This antique Persian labor of love is destined to be an effortlessly intriguing object of fascination in a grand space.
