This remarkable carpet features an exquisite garden panel design, or Chahar Bagh layout, which is symbolic of Paradise. A diverse array of traditional flowers fills each panel, including Shah Abbas palmettes, carnations, lotus, peonies, and poppies.
Although the designs repeat in a complex pattern, each panel is truly unique in some way, creating a fantastical display of color juxtapositions and subtle variations in the motifs that show an extraordinary level of inventiveness. The rich color palette features a staggering number of hues and is genuinely breathtaking to examine.
