QASHQAI SHISHBOLUKI, Southern Persian
5' 0" x 8' 2"
Late 19th Century
(High-Collectible) ("Best-of-the-Best Sold in 2017") This is an unbelievably well-preserved Qashqai Shishboluki rug that still retains its tassels at the top, as well as the original kilim ends! Such amazing condition could only mean that it was held as a collector's piece for its entire existence as a treasure from this esteemed subtribe's weaving. The signature red tone between rose and garnet achieved by this tribe alone can be seen here in abundance. To acquire the depth and longevity of both the red and lapis blue, a months-long immersion process is needed to achieve a deep level of pigment penetration. The Qashqai red and blue pairing is a defining attribute of their exquisite weavings, beautifully articulating a most dazzling Herati design in this piece. Learn About This Rug Type
