In this striking Semnan, an opulent arrangement of rows of scalloped lozenges conveys an elegant refinement that reflects the influences of Isfahan and Meshed design. Exuberant flowering plants burst forth from each vase, creating a kaleidoscopic effect of brilliant hues: lapis, royal blue, bronze, rose-red, jade, pink, peach, and vermillion. Each row of lozenges alternates with expansive floral roundels, which further energize the overall mosaic pattern. Shah Abbas palmettes and rosettes, set on a meandering vine in rich pastels, populate the brilliant ivory main border.
