One of the world’s best sources of antique carpets. – Financial Times
6' 10" x 10' 2" Circa 1920 Price: $7,000
This excellent quality vintage Persian Bakhtiari Haft Shotor carpet presents an unusual rhythmic, undulating allover pattern on a rich ruby field. Like a giant puzzle each row seamlessly interlocks with the other, infinitely repeating according to the traditional belief of the rug designer and weavers. Bakhtiari rugs woven before 1930 are renowned for their extremely durable wool and luminous color derived from natural dyestuffs. The design is punctuated with striking color tones, such as dusky rose, emerald green, aqua and sapphire, adding even greater visual interest to this highly animated carpet. Happily, as well as being a fascinating decorative composition, it is in excellent, heavier pile condition.
