(High-Collectible-Plus) (One of 70 "Best-of-Their-Type Rugs" Sold in 2025) The community of Bakshaish is situated in the Zagros Mountains of northwest Persia, and has established its due recognition as the progenitor of a most highly evolved folk artistry. Skillful village weavers were also greatly influenced by the neighboring urban center of Tabriz, where carpets captured the refined classical styles handed down from the 16th-century Safavid Dynasty. This stunning corridor-sized carpet projects strength in its bold architectonic geometry, which is ultimately softened by the refined drawing of the lyrical floral motifs within and the masterful use of natural dyes. The one-of-a-kind elongated field features a powerfully rendered cobalt blue centerpiece that is perfectly contoured to match the luminous cerulean framework along the border edges. This encloses an inner chamomile lozenge and serrated centerpiece that contains an enigmatic fish form! Sublime, finely applied abrash color fluctuations add a considerable amount of texture and visual depth to the piece.
