Encircling a gleaming “Window to Eternity” at its center, eight angular petals vie for turf with flower-tipped tendrils within an azure fringed ivory enclosure. Slender vines wander over a spacious, saturated madder red reserve leading the eye to corner spandrels where pairs of jagged oak leaves are geometric at the top, while those at the bottom are more organically contoured. This superbly folkloric artwork is both symmetrically structured and intensely improvisational. It realizes an advanced level of balance and harmony that is only accessible through an inspired combination of approaches.
