(High-Collectible-Plus) This aesthetic masterpiece presents the aficionado of antique rugs with the irresistible combination of a virtuoso overall design and exquisite time-mellowed hues from the mountain village of Bakshaish. A squadron of winged motifs drifts on a strikingly unadorned reserve of fiery carnelian, gently rippled by tremendously refined ‘abrash' striations. In the spaces between live a curated assortment of botanically inspired artistry. Elaborated terrestrial shapes, rendered in organic flowing curves with evocative outlining and color contrasts, are brilliantly juxtaposed with the more angular designs, relaying a tremendous depth and movement. A curious pack of canids and mysterious humanoid figures also emerge from this imaginative landscape. Its chromatic foundations sprung from carefully crafted brews from exhaustively discovered dye recipes now lost to the mists of time. A well-loved Bakshaish pattern in the border emerges with elemental oak leaves, modernist rosettes, and quizzical spontaneous inclusions. This rug’s remarkable condition means it will charm and beguile its lucky owners for years to come.
