(Connoisseur-Caliber)
("New Arrivals Gallery") This breathtakingly handsome floral Kashan rug, likely woven in the elite Dabir workshop, possesses an etched drawing clarity and exemplifies the high refinement and singular design work expected of the prestigious atelier. Presenting a variety of native floral types drawn with naturalistic precision, each graceful form in this intensely active composition results from this city tradition's deep contemplation of nature against a spectacular backdrop of deeply resonant dark carnelian red. This piece is further distinguished by its all-natural vegetally dyed colors, still in use at the start of the 20th century before commercial pressures gave way to the wholehearted adoption of chemical dyes in the Persian cities. A dazzling spectrum of distinctive tertiary tones sparkles through extremely lanolin-rich wool pile graced by a whisper-light patina of age. The lushness and botanical diversity of the main border are flanked by two minor bands of golden sand that feature geometricized elements in contrast to the organic contours found elsewhere in the rug. As an ultra finely knotted City rug, it remains in stunning, virtually full pile condition, indicating it was virtually never used on the floor.
