This highly innovative, folkloric antique village carpet is the antithesis of the traditional Heriz medallion and cornerpiece format. Its allover design is entirely balanced and eye-catching, as its diverse stylized vinery and hanging blossom motifs elicits a sense of natural beauty and harmony. Extremely unusual, the grandly overscale main border contains abstracted foliage exotically arranged for dramatic effect by the unfathomably skilled weavers. Its palette is also particularly inviting, showcasing a mastery of color juxtaposition. Wide-ranging tones consisting of azure, midnight blues, coral, golden wheat, along with difficult to render greens from jade to prized sea foam and deep aqua, animate the highly imaginative design. The piece is in excellent condition at over 100 years of age and its robust construction is strong enough to raise a family on or use in a high traffic area.
