(High-Decorative) ("New Arrivals Gallery") This luminous, 120-year-old Heriz woven at the start of this village’s outpouring of rugs to meet the global interest before labor-saving steps got a foothold in even this bastion of art carpets. The Heriz decagonal medallion template, inspired by 19th-century Serapi carpets, is relaxed in this piece and the traditional spandrels connect to allow for the irridescent blue abrash at the top and bottom. The spacing and under scale drawing of the field motifs create an expansive ambiance. The soft, yet extremely durable "mountain oily wool" that Azerbaijan rugs were prized for lights up the crimson field and the secondary patterns with rich rose, bright gold, cerulean, jade, and shades of glowing lagoon blue. Wonderful heavier pile condition further enhances this folkloric rug’s tremendous appeal and utility. Learn About This Rug Type
