(High-Decorative) With its charismatic geometry and undeniable joie-de-vivre, this effusively creative small room-size antique carpet keeps the Heriz commitment to a casual ambiance filled with impactful artistry alive. A brilliant ivory shield medallion filled with fanciful leaf motifs with an X marking the center rests on a rich, madder red ground. Ornate anchor pendants that look like the crowns of a Shah mingle with a botanical pattern, as only Heriz can achieve. While sitting on this handsome rug, I was able to more fully explore the astute village design work that inhabits this piece and its proportional success within this exceedingly unusual overall dimension. Every motif is individually rendered with variations in color, shape, and placement through the happy liberation of spontaneity. Its animated border is an unpretentious version of the famed Shah Abbas pattern, which increases this village carpet's cheerful naïveté. This versatile piece is heavily piled with extremely resilient mountain wool obtained from local flocks.
