(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery") Mahajiran Sarouks, with their characteristic silken luster, are the most luxurious of all the vintage Persian carpets because of their use of the finest lamb's wool with a high lanolin content and their consummate craftsmanship, which results in a deep, rich pile. In this eye-catching piece, the Garden of Paradise is depicted with such floral abundance that hardly any of the brilliant vermillion background is visible. A center medallion is subtly defined by a ring of brilliantly colored flowering sprays in hues of scintillating lapis blue, pale salmon, and coral. The main border is even more finely detailed than the field array of flowering sprays and blossoms, and again uses strong splashes of color to define the meandering vine. The stout construction, excellent condition, and tremendous beauty of this delightful Mahajiran ensure it will provide for generations of use and enjoyment.
