(“FALL/WINTER 2018-19 PRINT CATALOG", p. 21)
A superb example of the rarest, most widely sought-after flora rug style of the 19th century, this small room size Motasham Kashan piece conveys an unfathomable level of craftsmanship and sublimely delicate drawing of its motifs. Set apart by glistening lamb’s wool, a virtuoso layering of concentric fluted medallions creates a widening display of exquisite detail. Here each motif or stem, within a complex hierarchy of sizes, is expressed with a consummate level of care that creates an overall splendor for which this Court style is highly sought after. No other Court style achieved, as this carpet exemplifies, such palpable animation within a perfect visual symmetry. Stunning, exceptionally soft tones illumine its well-piled surface, masterfully contrasted with an equally mesmerizing, expertly captured midnight indigo coloration.
