Repeated throughout the hexagonal carnelian field, the symbol captures a sprouting seed pod within which a fully realized flower is resting, evoking agrarian as well as human implications. This motif filling both the field and the spandrels is a very rare, early pattern and it is rendered here with extraordinary sensitivity, refinement, and spontaneity. Its technically sophisticated border suite, highlighted by the dignified saffron frame, lends this glorious gem an enchanting sense of movement. Also of great appeal is the outstanding condition, superb tribal wool and glowing patina reflected from this 170-year-old piece. Learn About This Rug Type
