Twitter Instagram Facebook Pinterest(Connoisseur-Caliber) The Serapi tradition of Azerbaijan in the 19th century left a gamut of rugs utilizing its signature commanding medallion design. This distinctive template was interpreted on remote mountainside looms as well as established family workshops in the centrally located large village of Heriz. This piece, an excellent example of the work from the best of these workshops and very possibly commissioned, presents a very elegant, sophisticated presentation of this grand style. Its drawing is extremely clear, with precise, painstaking articulation of each device. An organically-derived sky blue, celadon, spruced green and jade add sumptuous counterpoint to the brilliance of the exciting crimson main color that floods the field and border.
