Twitter Facebook Pinterest(High-Collectible) ("The California Collection") This enthralling Serapi exemplifies the intensive burst of creativity that occurred during the latter half of the 19th century, celebrating a more casual free-form pattern aspect of village weaving. A gleaming champagne ‘Window to Eternity’ occupies the rosy quartz centerpiece of a golden fringed teardrop medallion in deep midnight with a single beam of sapphire blue cutting across the middle. To the great delight of aficionados, no two botanical elements are rendered in quite the same way across the carnelian field and cerulean spandrels, imbuing every aspect with a gently animated quality. Its masterfully conceived dusky palette quietly shimmers through a fine patina only earned through great age. Delicate waves of intentional 'abrash' striations add visual textures across the room-size expanse. A rarely seen ivory border features an almost Mayan-esque version of the Shah Abbas design, purposely compressed in the horizontal bands. In addition to providing very good pile condition, this piece would be a visually intriguing contribution to a casual family space or a room with numerous art objects that need a unifying presence.
